Slain enemies of all ranks will reward you with coins however, higher ranked enemies and thieves reward more.

Below is a breakdown of each of those currencies, including how to earn and use them.Ĭoins are earned primarily from defeating enemies. The Forgotten Saga adds 5 new currencies that are specific to the rogue-like game mode. Daggers and Flails are fast/build up speed over combos, but they do lower damage per hit and require you to be up in the enemies face, which will only punish yourself.
Aetgirs and Dane Axes aren’t a bad choice either as they have good range however, swings tend to be slower and leave you open to enemy attacks. So we recommend using Spears or Long Greatswords. With fewer options to heal, we recommend choosing weapon types that maintain your distance from enemies, or have a good balance of damage and speed. There are weapons that are better based on stats, but also, based on the weapon type. There are many weapons you can unlock through your runs in Niflheim. The area of Dokkerland adds a timer to every encounter however, it is generally forgiving, so you can still take your time in planning your attacks. You can take time to observe the area using Odin's Sight and find the right bushes and highpoints to attack from. Utilize stealth and your bow to whittle down enemy numbers before engaging them head on. Since your health and healing options are limited, don’t be afraid to take things slowly. So again, you need to think about your situation and decide if the purchase is worth your coins or if you are confident you can make it to the next Elk Shrine. Merchants only carry one each, so you can’t stack them or hold them for later. They are used immediately and heal 100-150 health points. These are all possibilities in Niflheim, so be sure to think before using an Elk Shrine.Īdditionally, Elk Antlers can be purchased for coins from Wandering Merchants. You may also need health and have a group of enemies standing between you and the next Elk Shrine perhaps, it would be best to avoid them and go straight for it. In some situations, you may need the health immediately, or it might be smarter to take on a group of enemies ahead of the Elk and circle back. So before healing up, scope out the area and decide what is best for you. You may see one and immediately want to use it, but remember these are one time uses and are mostly in areas you can’t return to.
Utilize Elk Shrines (and Elk Antlers) StrategicallyĮlk Shrines are the most common and one of the few ways you can heal yourself in Niflheim. Plus, in general, stacking status effect damage adds multipliers and modifiers to all your attacks resulting in more damage, even when the status effect isn’t the enemies specified weakness. If there is a specific enemy that you are struggling with, it would be worth it to try and focus your build around their weakness. The status effects are: Fire (red), Poison (green), Electricity (yellow), Ice (blue). But, beware the effect can’t be triggered more than once per run.Įach enemy type has a specific weakness, denoted by the symbol next to their health bar. When you are defeated, instead of dying, you will respawn with half of your health. Their thanks comes in the form of a permanent favor, Summoned Courage, which will carry over throughout the rest of your runs. On your third visit, the viking warrior will be reunited with their head and thank you for your help. Defeat the warrior and complete your run by returning to camp or dying. Inside this cave is a headless viking warrior that will attack you once you activate the Invoker here.
